Overview

This route is located northeast of Quito and begins in Puéllaro, known for its traditional food. It then heads north through Perucho, Atahualpa, Chavezpamba, and San José de Minas, four rural parishes. From there, you can take a short 30-minute drive east to explore the Jerusalem Protected Forest and the Cochasquí Archaeological Park, or west to the City of the Middle of the World.

Itinerary

We will collect you from your hotel and transport you to northeast of Quito.

The Jerusalém Protected Forest was declared a protected forest and vegetation in 1980. It is the largest protected dry forest in the Northern Andes of Ecuador, located at an altitude of 2400 meters above sea level.
The forest is home to numerous species of flora and fauna, some of which have been threatened, vulnerable, and in danger of extinction for thousands of years. The forest has eight guided and self-guided trails, two of which are interpretive and have Braille structures.

Day 3 :
PUELLARO

This rural parish in the canton of Quito is the main producer of chicken eggs and chickens in the Metropolitan District and Pichincha.
They produce over one million eggs per day, including white, golden, and green varieties, as well as different types of chickens for meat, standing, criollitos, and runas.

Day 4 :
PERUCHO

Perucho is the smallest parish in the north-central part of the Metropolitan District of Quito, but it has a rich history.

Day 5 :
ATAHUALPA

We will visit a cemetery in this parish that has a design similar to the one in Tulcán, but on a smaller scale.
Then, we will take a third-order road to reach the next stop where we can taste fresh blackberries and uvillas straight from the plant. At the end of the tour, we will enjoy a delicious glass of freshly squeezed juice. The owner also prepares organic marmalade, which is available for purchase in flavors such as uvilla, mora, or chigualcan.
We are now moving on from this property to another unique location. This time, we will be exploring a property filled with granadilla. We will walk under the fruit-laden plants, sampling and harvesting them to take with us.

Harvest peaches, tangerines, oranges, avocados, blueberries, and prickly pears in this beautiful Patate orchard. Alternatively, enjoy these delicious flavours in freshly baked cakes.
