Overview

Quito, the capital of Ecuador, was founded in the 16th century on the ruins of an Inca city and stands at an altitude of 2,850 m. Despite the 1917 earthquake, the city has the best-preserved, least altered historic centre in Latin America. The monasteries of San Francisco and Santo Domingo, and the Church and Jesuit College of La Compañía, with their rich interiors, are pure examples of the ‘Baroque school of Quito’, which is a fusion of Spanish, Italian, Moorish, Flemish and indigenous art.

Itinerary

You will be collected from your accommodation and taken to the historic centre of Quito.

The National Vow Basilica is the largest Gothic-style church in Ecuador and one of the most visited tourist attractions in Quito's Historic Center. The tone is formal and objective, and the descriptions follow a logical sequence. Specific terms and units are used consistently throughout the text, and the grammar, spelling, and punctuation are correct. No changes in content have been made, and the text has been improved according to the desired characteristics. Visitors are welcomed by the monument of Pope John Paul II with open arms. The language used in this text is clear, concise, and free from unnecessary repetition.

This is the official workplace of the President of the Republic of Ecuador. Its infrastructure was built in the 19th century by Baron Carondelet, President of the Royal Audience (Real Audiencia de Quito), and was named after him.

Day 4 :
LUNCH TIME

We will enjoy a delicious lunch amidst historic and representative buildings.

Day 5 :
CATHEDRAL

The church houses a fascinating collection of sculptures and paintings from the escuela Quiteña. One of the most significant works of art is the Descending Christ by Caspicara, a masterpiece of expressionism. As in the most Ecuadorian and latin American churches, many styles were used in the construction of the Cathedral.
It is one of the oldest temples in South America and the pride of the Historic Center of Quito. Its construction has styles such as Baroque, Mudejar, Rococo, Neo-Gothic and Neoclassical.

Day 6 :
PANECILLO

The Panecillo is crowned by a giant aluminium sculpture, the Virgen del Panecillo or the Virgin of the Apocalypse.
The monument represents the Virgin of Quito, created by the master Bernardo de Legarda, one of the greatest exponents of the Quito School.
